Standing at the Threshold

The transitions that shape us most rarely arrive neatly. It might be a change of career, a health challenge, the end of a relationship, or simply a quiet knowing that the life you've built no longer fits, and each of these thresholds turns up in its own time and on its own terms.

The space between what was and what's becoming can feel deeply disorienting. Old certainties fall away before new ones have formed, the ground feels less solid than it used to, and it's tempting to rush through the discomfort towards anything that looks like stability.

There's real value in the not-knowing, though, if we can bear to stay with it a while. Transitions are where much of the real work of change happens, and in the same way a caterpillar surrenders to the chrysalis, we often grow the most when we stop trying to manage every step.

You don't have to go through it alone, either. Skilled, compassionate support can make a real difference to how you move through a transition and who you are when you reach the other side.

What helps most in these moments is a space where uncertainty can be held with care, and where whatever is emerging can be welcomed. Whether the turning point is physical, emotional or existential, the same thing holds true: we need room to feel what we're feeling.

Within that space, something remarkable often happens. The life waiting on the other side of a transition is rarely the one we imagined, and it's often far more aligned with who we really are.

If you're standing at a turning point right now, you don't need to have it all figured out. A willingness to begin is plenty.
